What are Multipurpose Prevention Technologies?

Multipurpose preventive technologies for sexual and reproductive health are defined as vaccines, microbicides or devices (e.g., intravaginal ring, diaphragm, etc) that will provide protection against two or more of the following: unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV, and other common reproductive tract infections (RTIs).
